Identity protection
One should guard the information related to one’s finances closely and should never under any situation give one’s social security number or bank or credit cards unless the merchant is trustworthy or the transaction has been initiated by oneself. Various imposters are present and they may fake their identity to resemble a company or financial institution you deal with but always remember that a trustworthy merchant would never inquire about your personal information unlike these con artists.
Be careful while dialing numbers or entering any website; trust only the known ones and do not get carried away by spam mails. In order to secure your snail mails try and arrange for a locked mailbox or at least have the mails collected promptly while you are away from home or office. The “exclusive” offers made available via mail should be avoided as consider that equivalent to be a public trash out in the open being delivered door-to-door.
Password-protect computer or any other device which may contain identity related information. Do not leave the password or pin related information in the open with cards or wallet as it might be easily accessible to any imposters. A very common form of con these days is related to credit cards so you are advised to check them regularly and hence, prevent the possibility of problems popping up later.
