Under what circumstances should you consider hiring an attorney? The answer should be: on any occasion when you have a significant legal issue for which you do not understand the law.

The benefit of having an attorney is obviously that they can help you with legal situations and make sure that avoid pitfalls that you wouldn’t be aware of. An attorney will act as your legal guide, and as your friend in legal situations.

Not all lawyers know about all aspects of the law. Most lawyers specialize in a number of fields. Most common are lawyers who deal in divorce and family courts. These will help you with matters concerning child custody, child support and family issues that may crop up from a divorce. Criminal lawyers assist those who may be faced with criminal charges and similar.

There are many other fields in which lawyers specialize, but these don’t spring to mind as easily. Many business owners and corporations discuss tax matters with tax lawyers to get advice on filing taxes and deductions. Tax law is not a simple subject, so it is useful to have a tax lawyer who can give you good advice.

There are also immigration lawyers, who give assistance to people wanting to take citizenship in a particular country. As with tax law, immigration law is a complex subject, especially for a newcomer to a country.

Labour lawyers help unions with employee rights and other lawyers specialize in employment law. Worker’s Compensation Lawyers will assist people with compensation claims, and employment lawyers cover the field of employment, discrimination and related areas. Other lawyers can help in the field of social security and benefits.

There are lawyers for accident and personal injury, and lawyers for medical malpractice to look after those who have suffered poor medical practice or treatment. Still other lawyers specialize in the area of wills and trusts, and others concentrate of matters of finance.

Whatever your situation, there is a lawyer who will be able to assist.Costs will be different depending on the amount of time and work involved and the expertise of the lawyer acting for you. Usually, however, a lawyer will offer a free initial consultation.
